Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the MLW (Millwright) Supervisor position is responsible for managing all aspects of the MLW and Mobile Crew and their work including routine work, shut down work and Turnaround.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Be a strong safety leader and actively support continuous safety improvement and environmental stewardship on site.
  • Ensure safe and efficient work execution of the MLW and Mobile teams.
  • Manage and be accountable for the performance of MLW and Mobile Crews.
  • Work in a collaborative manner to motivate the team and create a work environment where employees are equipped with the tools and skills required, are engaged in personal development, and contribute to the success of Itafos.
  • Facilitating the resolution of inter-personnel and intra-personnel issues through coaching, mentoring, discipline or conflict resolution.
  • Identify developmental needs of the team and take appropriate actions to ensure the team maintains a high degree of competency.
  • Understand and support principles of PSM.
  • Monitoring PM / PdM for Best Practices compliance.
  • Develop plans to maintain / increase equipment reliability.
  • Develop and maintain proper plant documentation related to these trades in a variety of formats including electronic.
  • Own and manage the repairable spares program and work closely with the warehouse other departments to maintain a supply of operational equipment at the ready.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planners, Operations Planners, Inspections and other departments to create job plans and repair timelines.
  • Work closely with contractors, vendors and internal departments as required to ensure the planned and scheduled work can be done in a safe and productive manner.
  • Be responsive to plant needs, including outages and turnarounds during normal and off shift hours.
  • Manage Turnaround work which will include directing contractors and employees, working with various internal departments and providing schedule updates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.

 Qualifications for the position include:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ maintenance experience in the field of millwright and rotating equipment.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ of supervisory experience, or a combination of maintenance experience and supervisory training.
  • Preferred knowledge of the plant areas at CPO and a basic understanding of the plant equipment.
  • Strong coaching, relationship and team building skills and demonstrated ability to influence others.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Possess troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply procedures and policies.
  • Be able to read blueprints, drawings and equipment files.
  • Possess an ownership mindset.
  • Must be willing to attend training and complete courses as required to enhance skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and work with very little supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and set work goals.

Work Schedule & Environment: 

  • 4-day x 10-hour workweek, typically Monday through Thursday.
  • Requirement to be responsive to plant needs, including production upsets, outages, and turnarounds, during normal and off shift hours.
  • Performing work in a combination of office/indoor and manufacturing/outdoor settings.
  • Typical manufacturing/processing environment working near moving equipment and mechanical parts, varying levels of noise, and near fumes or airborne particles.
  • Performing work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions including elevated temperatures, cold, rain, snow, etc.
  • Performing work from elevated heights, platforms, and/or ladders.
  • Performing work using a variety of types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, protective suits, fall protection, etc.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, and ascending/descending stairs.
