Rotating Equipment Mechanic

Reporting to the Rotating Equipment Supervisor, this position is responsible for executing work safely, follow policies and procedures while troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing rotating equipment such as pumps, filters, conveyors, gearboxes, and elevators including routine work, shut down work and Turnaround.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Be a strong safety leader and actively support continuous safety improvement and environmental stewardship on site,
- Work safely and responsibility following procedures and safe work practices,
- Use computer tools to record equipment history, document repairs and create work orders,
- Work closely with contractors, vendors and internal departments,
- Engagement in the site safety programs,
- Be on time ready to go to work at the designated time each day with behaviors and attitudes that support a high-performance team-oriented safety culture,
- Work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated,
- Work in all areas of the plant where needed which will include climbing stairs, working various environmental conditions (including elevated heat, cold weather, haz zones, rain, snow, etc.) in required PPE for plant access and un-even working surfaces,
- Complete progression training as required and within timelines outlined by CPO,
- Crane, manlift and forklift operation,
- Be responsive to plant needs including outages and turnarounds during normal and off shift hours.
Qualifications for the position include:
- At least two years education at vocational/technical school in the rotating equipment or machining field or 5+ years’ experience is a plus,
- Experience rebuilding pumps, conveyer systems, rotating drums, gear boxes.
- Basic working knowledge of all types of rotating equipment such as pumps, gear boxes, conveyer systems, compressors, rotating drums.
- Ability to use precise measuring tools, aligning tools.
- Installations and alignment of mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read, understand and apply procedures and policies,
- Must be willing to attend training and complete courses as required to enhance skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP is a plus,
- Possess an ownership mindset,
- Possess troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving ability,
- Team player that treats coworkers with dignity and respect, openly shares information and is engaged in continuous improvement,
- Good mechanical skills,
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Schedule & Environment:
- 4-day x 10-hour workweek, typically Monday through Thursday.
- Requirement to be responsive to plant needs, including production upsets, outages, and turnarounds, during normal and off shift hours.
- Performing work in a combination of office/indoor and manufacturing/outdoor settings.
- Typical manufacturing/processing environment working near moving equipment and mechanical parts, varying levels of noise, and near fumes or airborne particles.
- Performing work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions including elevated temperatures, cold, rain, snow, etc.
- Performing work from elevated heights, platforms, and/or ladders.
- Performing work using a variety of types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, protective suits, fall protection, etc.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, and ascending/descending stairs.
