Project Manager
Conda Phosphate Operations
Soda Springs, Idaho
Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Management and functioning as a member of the Conda Phosphate Operations (CPO) Tech Services Team, this position ensures that projects and scheduling activities associated with Capital Projects and Plant Services are effectively executed. Responsibilities include overseeing the safety and all aspects of a project to ensure it is completed on time and within budget. Will be responsible for CAPEX for projects that range from several thousand dollars to multimillion dollar projects. Has overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing, outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. Submit reports and updates on a weekly basis for upper management regarding status of a project, attend several monthly meetings to submit CAPEX forecasts and project phase development. Have communication with operations and maintenance planners to ensure work tasks are properly coordinated.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Be a strong safety leader and actively support continuous EHS&S improvement on site
- Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
- Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
- Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities
- Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
- Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
- Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
- Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources
- Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership
- Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
- Manage project scope and changes
- Participate and/or lead feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
- Act as an internal quality control check for the project
- Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
- Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
- Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, PSM, and code of conduct
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations
- Work without risk or harm to self and others
- Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications for the position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or relevant field of study.
- 5years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects
- Knowledgeable of the PMBOK (Project Manager Book of Knowledge) and project process.
- Proficient with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership. SAP and Teams is also a plus.
- Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs
- Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective
- Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities
- Be able to read blueprints and equipment files to ensure accuracy when ordering parts
- Must be open to continuous development and training
- Self-starter and work with very little supervision
- Able to prioritize work and set work goals
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, understand and apply procedures
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Possess troubleshooting and analytical ability
Work Schedule & Environment:
- 4-day x 10-hour work week, typically Monday through Thursday
- Requirement to be responsive to plant needs, including production upsets, outages, and turnarounds, during normal and off shift hours
- Performing work in a combination of office/indoor and manufacturing/outdoor settings
- Typical manufacturing/processing environment working near moving equipment and mechanical parts, varying levels of noise, and near fumes or airborne particles
- Performing work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions including elevated temperatures, cold, rain, snow, etc.
- Performing work from elevated heights, platforms, and/or ladders as needed
- Performing work using a variety of types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, protective suits, fall protection, etc.
- May require frequent standing, walking, and ascending/descending stairs
