As part of the Maintenance Department, Supervisor, Electrical & Instrumentation, based out of Conda Phosphate Operations in Soda Springs, Idaho, will report directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager and oversee the daily maintenance activities related electrical and instrumentation while directly supervising six E&I Technicians.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Be a strong safety leader and actively support continuous safety improvement and environmental stewardship on site.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient work practices (people, work processes and practices).
  • Developing plans to maintain/increase equipment reliability.
  • Developing and maintaining proper plant documentation related to these trades.
  • Monitoring PM/PDM for Best Practices compliance.
  • Key interface for team with CMT, other supervisors, project engineers, Materials Management, Planning, Operations, and others.
  • Working in a collaborative manner to motivate and release the maximum potential from the team and create a work environment where employees know more, care more and contribute more.
  • Managing the performance management process within the team and ensuring proper documentation of the performance management process for his/her team.
  • Facilitating the resolution of inter-personnel and intra-personnel issues through coaching, mentoring, discipline or conflict resolution.
  • Identifying developmental needs of the team and taking appropriate actions to ensure the team maintains a high degree of competency.
  • Maintaining the empowerment and high degree of ownership of the people on the team.
  • Implement and manage Instrument and Electrical procedures.
  • Mange the maintenance progression system within the I&E Department.
  • Be a sign electrical system subject matter expert.

Qualifications for the position include:  

  • Have a minimum of grade 12 education (high school diploma or GED equivalent).
  • Possess a valid Electrical or Instrumentation certificate.
  • Have a minimum of 5+ years experience in an oil/gas/chemical facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, coaching and team skills.
  • Ability to help lead change throughout the organization and knowledge of change management concepts.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance practices and processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of plant processes and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical code, electrical control and power distribution systems a plus.
  • Competent in planning and scheduling maintenance work.
  • Possess good computer skills including a working knowledge of SAP.
  • Have good working knowledge of plant electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of tools of the trade and general knowledge of other trade groups.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical ability.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply procedures and policies.
  • Able to prioritize work and set work goals.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Work Schedule & Environment:  

  • 4-day x 10-hour workweek, typically Monday through Thursday.
  • Requirement to be responsive to plant needs, including production upsets, outages, and turnarounds, during normal and off shift hours.
  • Performing work in a combination of office/indoor and manufacturing/outdoor settings.
  • Typical manufacturing/processing environment working near moving equipment and mechanical parts, varying levels of noise, and near fumes or airborne particles.
  • Performing work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions including elevated temperatures, cold, rain, snow, etc.
  • Performing work from elevated heights, platforms, and/or ladders.
  • Performing work using a variety of types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, protective suits, fall protection, etc.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, and ascending/descending stairs.
